As the introduction explains, 'The inspiration for Lupin III is turn-of-the-century French novelist Maurice LeBlanc's Arsene Lupin. Monkey Punch borrowed the debonair French rogue, rendered him with the art style of Mad Magazine's Sergio Aragones and placed him in the action-packed milieu of cold world espionage and high society megalomaniacs.' Lupin is a master thief, a spy, a mercenary, a fighter, and a pain in the ass for Interpol's Inspector Zenigata, his arch nemesis.
Lupin III is a fun read, but is not for the younger crowd. It carries a rating of OT: Older Teen Age 16+, and I think that is probably a bit lenient. While the graphic novel's graphics are not extremely, um, graphic, they are suggestive enough to indicate what is occurring, and some of the things depicted are a bit nasty. (Think sexual themes, perversity and a bit of violence thrown in for good measure.)
If you like comedy, action and intrigue, and you love a twisted story, Lupin III is likely to be a fun read. I couldn't put it down until I was done.
