Graphics & Sound:
True story - my roommate walked in on me playing NBA 2K and he asked what game was on. At first glance, he thought it was a real game on TV. No kidding. I won't say that it's that realistic, but it comes closer than anything else. The graphics are unbelievable. Everything from the players, to the crowd, to the court, it's all great. The players actually look like the real NBA players; in most cases, the animations resemble them as well. Even the crowd has depth to it. No cardboard cutouts sitting in the stands. There are actually people sitting, standing, and walking around in the arena. The reflections and clarity on the court are next to incredible. Even the pre-game intros and instant replays are awesome. I only noticed a miniscule amount of graphical glitches in the game. The only complaint I have with the sound is that sometimes the announcers trailed the action a bit too much. Other than that, you have to see this one to believe it.

Gameplay:
Let's start out with the bad - okay, now that that's out of the way, here are the good features. Every NBA player this season is in the game. Play as your favorite team in exhibition or season mode. In a season, you can customize it to the number of games that you want to play. You can also run in playoff mode or the practice mode. You want options, it has them. Change the rules, the controller setup, the difficulty, and many, many more. Just about everything can be changed (even the trade deadline). You can create your own player and teams and modify existing ones. You can even adjust the coaching modes to run plays, setup defense, and auto substitute. Man, everything is in this game. They even call illegal defense! What other game has ever done that? And talk about smooth - this game has good graphics, runs smooth, and still runs at a fast pace. I love it! Everything you've ever wanted in a basketball game and so much more.

Difficulty:
This game can never be said to be too difficult. Everything in the game is customizable. It would be impossible to say it's difficult. Okay, maybe the free throws are too difficult, but nobody's perfect.

Game Mechanics:
Fluid, responsive, fast, accurate, fun . I could go on all day. The one and only one negative thing I found with the game is the foul shooting. The mechanics on that one could have been better. It is unique, yet difficult. Everything else is either perfect or customizable. I will admit, it does take a little while to get use to the default camera angle, but if you don't like it, change it. I would dare say that this is the best basketball game ever made. Oh, check this out - with a VMU, you can see messages responding to your shoots, players' foul situation, energy status, team timeout review, and real time game stats. With fun for up to four players, this is one game you have to get.
