Reminder: Free PS3/ PSP Games Expires Soon

Company: Sony Interactive Entertainment America
Product: Welcome Back from Sony

Picked up your free "Welcome Back" items from PSN yet? If not, you might want to act soon. The offer, which is Sony's way of apologizing to PS3 and PSP owners since last month's PSN outage, is only good until July 3. After that, they will no longer be available.

For anyone still in the dark about the offer, Sony has made a selection of PS3 and PSP games available for a download over PSN. PlayStation 3 owners can choose two of the following:

  • Infamous
  • Dead Nation
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Super Stardust HD
  • Wipeout HD (w/ the Fury expansion)

PSP owners can claim any two of the following:

  • LittleBigPlanet
  • ModNation Racers
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation

The offer is open to everyone with a PSN account and, if you own both systems, you can claim both offers.

In addition to the free games, you can also claim a free 30-day subscription to PlayStation Plus. Existing subscribers will have time added to their accounts. Even if none of the free games get your attention, the PlayStation Plus offer is worth grabbing.

I've already claimed my free games (Dead Nation and WipeOut HD for PS3; LittleBigPlanet and ModNation Racers for PSP), and the process is painless, though a bit confusing at first.

The offer is found on the front page of PSN Store. To claim your games and PlayStation Plus subscription, you'll first need to download the "Claim Stubs" to choose from the list of games. Remember to check your "Active Downloads" for the games before turning off your system.

For more details, see our earlier story. If you aren't sure which games to grab, check out the review links below.
