It’s a pretty straightforward concept, but of course, there’s a ton of extra work that went into putting all the clips together for this DVD. Each category is announced in traditional awards ceremony style by characters from the show like Church, Doc, and Caboose. In completely traditional RVB style, the humor is low-brow and nothing goes right. Actually, I didn’t feel like the award intros were really worth watching after a while. The humor of the show seems to be more about the situation and the setup, and after a while, the awards ceremony setup gets a little repetitive. But if you don’t like the intros, you can easily skip to the clip for each category, since they’re separate segments.
If you’ve watched the first few seasons, you’re probably going to recognize most of the material on this DVD. The oldies are apparently the best of RVB in fans’s eyes. I don’t disagree with this at all. Some of the favorite moments are the fight scene with Tex, in which she creatively kicks the crap out of everyone using portals, kicks, and anything else readily available. Some of my favorites weren’t there, like Grif’s and Church’s "Did you just spit in your own helmet?" lines. But with 25 categories like "Best Quotes," "Best PSA," "Worst VFX," and a whole category just for "Best Caboose Moment," chances are you’ll find one of your favorite moments here.
There’s really nothing new on this DVD, if you don’t count the awards show setup and the gags built around that concept. But then that’s not why you get a compilation like this. This is pretty much the DVD you bring over when someone hasn’t seen RVB, because you won’t need to skip around to find a good moment, and you don’t need to watch an entire episode to show someone the good parts. Either way, the retail price of this DVD is a pittance of about 5 bucks, so it's not a huge chance to take if you want to pick this up just for company.
