CatDog is one of quite a few odd cartoons that aired on Nickelodeon in the late 90's. CatDog: Season One - Part Two continues the adventures of the oddly attached pair. They have four legs and two heads between them, one head on each end. This means that they have to learn to do everything together (and don't ask how they use the restroom as it is never explained).

This half of the season opens with a normal day at the pool. Of course, nothing is normal when CatDog are involved. Rancid Rabbit is the pool guard. I'd say life guard, but he is more of a cop than anything, out to enforce all the rules, the #1 of which is "No Cannon Balls!!" Dog just wants to Cannon Ball, which is exactly as you would expect. All the rule violators, including Dog (and Cat) are locked up in the pool like it is a prison. They have to break up the chlorine blocks with sledgehammers. Cat is enjoying the discipline that they have to do for Dog's punishment, at first. Of course, things change quickly as is usual. In an episode that will look very familiar to some of you collectors out there, Dog gets an action figure to play with while Cat decides to "collect" them. Of course he's going to go overboard just like he always does. It's just part of Cat's personality. Cat also likes to think that he wants to be a loner and rid of Dog if he could. When he has the chance for it though, can he really get rid of Dog? Cat likes to hide Dog every chance he gets. Cat really should learn that you should just be yourself.

Dog has a very friendly and fun-loving personality, at least until something happens to make him change. Dog loves to chase mailmen, but when one beats him, he can't handle it. One day Dog learns that even though Cat has 9 lives, he only has one. This means that he has to learn to be careful! Later in the series, Dog runs away from home after a fight with Cat and gets lost. He can't find his way home (of course, he could always just follow his torso back, but that would make too much sense). After reading a comic, Dog thinks that aliens have moved in next door, which means that he's very unfriendly to them! Apparently dogs are very protective of "their" hydrants. When someone else uses Dog's, he's determined to find the culprit, no matter what. I find it funny that they could stretch so far apart when Dog ran away from home, but then they can't when Cat wants to get home while Dog guards the hydrant.

Some of the other episodes include Cat and Dog fighting over a role in a play, leash laws, their brain, and pretty much anything you can think of. Siblings are bound to fight even though they love each other and these two demonstrate that in a very extreme way sometimes. I think the "Neferkitty" episode shows this the best. They might not always know how to get along, but usually they learn a very valuable lesson about respecting each other. The Greaser Dogs aren't in this half of the series as much as they were in the first half, but they are still there some. Winslow is definitely still there and makes life difficult for Cat often, even if Cat usually deserves it.

CatDog, is definitely a weird cartoon, but can be quite amusing. It's also great to get to see these episodes again in a good quality. If you want to relive the memories of CatDog, you should add CatDog: Season 1 - Part 2 to your collection.
