While McDonald is on bereavement leave, Porter Nash (Paddy Considine) is brought in from the uptight London office and the team immediately rejects him, mostly because he is a homosexual. However, he and Brant strike up a tentative working relationship to catch The Blitz because neither wants to be judged by their reputation.
When The Blitz begins targeting police friends of Brant's, he takes matters into his own hands and he and Nash actually find the suspect, only to have him slip through their fingers because of insufficient evidence. Will they walk the thin line of the law or step over and take revenge? Blitz is all about flawed characters and blurring the lines of morality.
Let me just say this first - if you like Jason Statham and his action movies, you'll be in your element watching Blitz. While it isn't filled with the typical car chases and Statham bedding a bevy of gorgeous babes, it's still Jason Statham being the bad ass that he is. The acting in the film is excellent and I really enjoyed Paddy Considine, although I haven't really seen his work before. Aidan Gillen as Barry Weiss/
Special features are slim and really include only the UK trailer, some behind-the-scenes footage and a handful of cast and crew interviews. Don't expect a "making-of" from the behind the scenes footage, because it's merely footage; a peek into the goings on and nothing more. I did enjoy getting Statham's take on the film, as well that of Elliot Lester (Director) and the interviews were interesting, but a bit dry. The film looked good on Blu-ray, but there wasn't any particularly outstanding about the imagery or anything that begged for high-definition, although the soundtrack was fantastic. That being said, lately I find myself being disappointed in anything less than high-def. Because of the surround sound and crisp visuals, Blu-ray is almost always the obvious choice over standard definition. While I did put the subtitles on, as the English accents are very heavy at times, I thoroughly enjoyed Statham's romp through the streets of London in Blitz. Look for it on store shelves on August 23rd!
