It's a bit obvious that the pilot was shot a bit before the rest of the episodes. Most everyone's hair looks a bit different (I definitely like Cat's better not ultra-curly) and Robbie has a much better looking dummy named Rex. First things first though, Tori has to customize her own locker, as that is the rule there. She also wants to audition for a play, but Sikowitz tells her that she has to complete the "bird" scene first because that is also one of the rules. You'd think there wouldn't be so many rules at a laid back school. Of course, there is a purpose to the bird scene and Tori understands why they have the rules, eventually. Jade tricks everyone into thinking Tori hit her during a fake fight scene. When Andre finds out that Jade faked it and tells Tori, Tori still doesn't tell anyone and takes a 2 week detention and cleaning the auditorium instead of busting Jade. Jade shows up to help her though and while it's not the start of a friendship, it is at least a bit of a truce. Granted, Jade is always going to be snide to her, but at least they can coexist without killing each other. This is a really good thing since Tori has to help get Jade and Beck back together when they break up. I have yet to figure out why he puts up with Jade in the first place, but some relationships just can't be understood.
Trina is definitely a trip, totally sure of herself always! She stages a one woman show and forces Robbie to write a review that make her play sound awesome. She's so special that she doesn't just have a birthday, she has a birthweek. Naturally, Tori has to come up with an awesome present for that! Andre is a really good friend when he helps her solve the problem. This group of kids, Andre, Tori, Cat, Jade, Beck, and Robbie really work together and help each other out a lot. They stand by each other and support each other, even in tough situations like Rex dying.
The Victorious DVD also has some special features that are interesting to watch including some music videos that preview the rest of the season to come later. I really love the characters in Victorious. They're not your normal high school kids, but they're a lot of fun. Even though they all have specific personality traits and flaws, they give them situations where they get to actually act and show other sides of their characters. They're all really talented actors who get to show it off. Yes, it's a show meant for teens, but it's still a lot of fun for an entire family.
