As I said in last season's review of Drop Dead Diva: Season One, I was originally appalled when I heard about the series. I thought that I would find it offensive, but thankfully, I have never been more wrong about a series. If you haven't seen last season, you should at least go read that review first as Drop Dead Diva: The Complete Second Season picks up right where last season ended.

After last season's finale, Jane (Brooke Elliot) has been fired for her actions to put away that sleazebag that tried to use her to cover a scam. She starts the season thinking that she's going to have to figure out what to do with her life, opening the season with an amusing dance number including Paula Abdul. It really looks like Jane's life is totally screwed up, especially with her unknown husband, Ethan (Devon Gummersall) popping in to ruin things with Tony (David Denman). But before Jane deals with all that, she has to take one last pro bono case to save a little girl before she's officially disbarred. Her secretary, Teri (Margaret Cho) arranged it all on purpose to try and make Jane fight the disbarment hearing. I do love Teri. She's an amazing assistant and deep down, a wonderful person. Tony has agreed to represent Jane at the disbarment hearing, but after finding out about Ethan and why she was married, Tony has to excuse himself as her attorney and starts on the path to end their relationship. Jane has no clue what to do, but Grayson (Jackson Hurst) saves the day by talking to Parker (Josh Stamberg) and convincing him that he wants to keep Jane. Parker takes over as her attorney and proves why he is the managing partner. He's quite honestly remarkable!

On the homefront, Fred (Ben Feldman) is back. Thanks to the fact that Jane's life is in such shambles, he was given his wings back and sent back to her. He is still in love with Stacy (April Bowlby), but this time he has no restrictions on him from up above, so provided he can get her to fall for him again, he can have her this time. To stay closer to Jane and earn some money, he takes a job as Kim's (Kate Levering) personal secretary and actually does an amazing job for her. I guess being in charge of all that he was in heaven prepared him to deal with a lot. Stacy is still such an awesome friend! Plus, she looks a lot better now that in the second episode, she fixes that horrible haircut.

Once Jane gets her life back on track, she's got a lot of amusing and difficult cases to deal with this season, including saving her own mom from jail and finding out that Deb has a half sister who now needs Jane's help desperately. Kim goes through some changes this season too. After dating Grayson last season, you'd think she'd avoid men from work, but ends up dating the boss, Parker. While it looks like this is actually a good relationship for her, it's going to start changing her personality, for the better I think. She starts to become a bit more human, especially after the unknown partner, Claire Harrison (Natasha Henstridge) shows back up. Harrison looks like an older version of Kim and acts a lot like her as well. She's going to cause a lot of problems for Kim. Then there's Grayson. Jane/Deb is still in love with Grayson, but she still can't tell him that she is actually Deb. Grayson starts dating another attorney, Vanessa (Jaime Ray Newman). The better their relationship goes, the more pain that Jane feels. No matter what, she just can't shake that true love that she and Grayson felt. We all have to wonder if he's ever going to see Deb inside of Jane.

The DVD set has a few special features as well. We find out that Tyce Diorio (you might remember him from So You Think You Can Dance numbers) choreographed the music number that opens the series. You get to see some behind the scenes in the special feature, "There's a Little Diva in All of Us." There are also quite a few deleted scenes that aren't really necessary, but add some interesting info to some of the episodes. The more I watch of Drop Dead Diva, the more I realize how much I love watching it. Jane proves that beauty is a state of mind, not a dress size and she makes those of us who aren't size zeros feel like we can take on the world just as well as they can. Now if we could only find the beautiful clothes that she does, then life would be perfect. If you're looking for a show that is different from most things on TV and is guaranteed to make you feel good, go pick up Drop Dead Diva today!
