With Lauren "L.C." Conrad leaving the show, you know the Queen Bee spot had to be filled with someone and who should that be but none other than Kristin Cavallari herself. When Kristin arrives on the scene, all of the women start quaking in their boots, fearing that their men will be stolen. Well, these fears are realistic as Kristin first sets her sites on Justin-Bobby. Audrina's claws immediately come out since she isn't quite ready to see Justin with another woman. Justin goes back and forth this season, leading both Kristin and Audrina on, but he and Audrina finally end their tortuous relationship once and for all (hopefully). Kristin and Justin fall for each other, but since they are two of a kind, they are also very off and on throughout the 10 episodes. I think it must take a woman just like him to make Justin come running, as he does with Kristin.
Meanwhile, Brody and Jayde are on the rocks since Kristin, Brody's ex, has come back to town. Brody and Jade fight all the time anyway, but now Jayde is very insecure with carefree Kristin on the scene and she has reason to be. Kristin keeps Brody on a string under the guise of being old friends, causing Brody and Jayde to "take a break" with their relationship, only to have Jayde go ballistic when she sees the two out together at a club. When Brody and Jayde finally patch up the tattered remnants of their relationship, Jayde pushes for them to move in together at the engagement party of Brody's friend and Brody calls it quits, much to Kristin's pleasure, as she'd like Brody waiting in the wings in case things don't pan out with Justin.
There's lots of drama this season as Kristin really likes to stir things up and keep everyone uneasy. She seems pretty confrontational and for no reason too, and although I never watched Laguna Beach, from what I understand this is nothing new. She's very different from L.C. but she does keep things interesting. What I miss are the uncomfortable pauses and stares that always seemed to occur when L.C. was on the show, but Kristin does bring a fresh, new vibe to the show. The special features are slim, including only a selection of deleted scenes, those horrible remixes and a feature called "The Bitch is Back" on Kristin Cavallari. While amusing to watch, I wish they'd have included cast member interviews like they did a few seasons ago as those were really fun to watch.
If you've been following the show, you'll want to check it out, but this is not one to buy. Renting will be fine because one viewing is all you really need.
