I just watched Mitch Fatel Is Magical. (oh, my God!)... he is Sooo funny. I've been a Mitch Fatel fan for a while now, listening to his skits on the comedy channel on XM, and even getting his CDs, Mitch Fatel: Miniskirts and Muffins and Mitch Fatel Is Super Retardo. And, even though there are pictures of him on the CD covers, he looked different in Is Magical than I expected, somehow. For those of you who aren't familiar with Mitch Fatel, he is, basically, an adorably cute pervert. At least, that is the character he plays in his act; I can't say to what degree it is just an act, but he stands as a wide-eyed young man intrigued - no, utterly in awe of the female of the species and becoming quite detectably overwhelmed at pleasurable things, from the taste of a muffin to the beauty of a thong.

In Mitch Fatel Is Magical: Live, Extended & Uncensored, the adorable pervert is back, and his interests in baking goods have waned in favor of a deeper interest in female anatomy and sex, in general. Some of his older material is reused here, but only in a few places, and it's always germane to the topic at hand. These will be new to his new audience and will be old, familiar favorites for long-term fans.

The theme behind "Is Magical" is evidently (according to Mitch in a joke in his act) a reference to a statement that a female virgin from his audience made, describing what she thought it would be like to lose her virginity to him. I don't know if this statement really struck a chord with him, but he used this Magic theme to frame his Comedy Central special. His entrance and exit onstage are via magic tricks and the cover of the DVD features an image of Mitch Fatel dressed as a wizard, supernaturally levitating an exotic-looking asian babe ("Jelly", Mitch's girlfriend), while somewhat more mundanely "levitating" her skirt with the end of his wand. Such is Mitch Fatel.

With a track list like: The Pre-Sex Warning, Girls Like Me Now, Sex with Horses, Super Famous, Candycane and The Panty-Pull-Aside Move, you might understand why I can't elaborate much about specific jokes. If not, let me just say that, while some of the above tracks might not sound sexual in nature, they are all sexual in nature.

As the interviews with Mitch's fans will bear out, however, Mitch Fatel isn't really all that perverted, when you think about it. He does have the imagination and observation of a comic, but, beyond that, he is basically voicing the thoughts of the average American, red-blooded guy. He just manages to do it in a comical way. And comical he is.

If you're already a fan of Mitch Fatel or you're othewise simply ready for some candid insight into human sexuality and some frank observations and unique takes on the above (and the regions below) by an adorable pervert, then Mitch Fatel Is Magical: Live, Extended & Uncensored is just what you're looking for. If you think this might be "too much" for you, you should check out Mitch Fatel's earlier work first - or just watch this one alone before sharing it with others, so you know what to expect. You can even catch it on Comedy Central on 9/18/09 for a preview, but then you miss out on the extras like the earlier-mentioned fan interviews and the outtakes, which are pretty funny. Personally, I really enjoyed seeing Mitch Fatel on stage, after having heard his various stand-up routines so many times on XM Comedy.
