Of course the Hump Bar is quite a bit damaged by the blast as well. Roxy (Sally Pressman) is going to have to spend a lot of time and money to get it back up and running. There are a lot of people who would rather see it stay closed after such a tragedy though. Roxy is going to have to work really hard to keep Betty's (Patricia French) vision alive. As if the bar being blown up isn't enough, Roxy will run into even more trouble having to deal with Betty's long lost relatives. It's always shocking how people turn up like vultures to pick apart everything they can from a dying relative! Trevor supports Roxy 100%, but he's going to have his own problems to deal with this season.
Pamela (Brigid Brannagh) continues her radio show "Have At It", even though she upsets the top brass sometimes. There's a big difference in what the wives need to say and hear and what the army wants the wives to say and hear. Pamela is quite good on the radio though, enough so that she gets an offer to host a show on a real station outside the base. Will she make this work into her life? Can she deal with the consequences of being a well known personality? Her husband Chase (Jeremy Davidson) tries his best to support her, but his career hits some rough spots this season as well.
As we saw at the end of last season, Joan (Wendy Davis) is pregnant. While a lot of women would be elated in that position, Joan never really wanted kids. She is the army officer and wants that to be her career. She and Roland (Sterling K. Brown) have a big decision to make on whether or not to keep the baby. Can she continue her career like she wants and still take care of an infant? Roland has a lot to decide on what he's going to do with his life too. He'll have a long way to go to make peace with his past and family.
Last but definitely not least is Denise (Catherine Bell). She has come to a crossroads in her life. With her son leaving home and joining the military just like his father, Denise is now left with a lot of free time. She spends it working in the hospital as a nurse like she wanted to be before becoming a full-time mother. But as we all know from so many hospital shows, a hospital is a very dramatic place to work. With all the indecisions in her life, Denise needs to find who she really is now. Unfortunately this really isn't going to make her husband Frank (Terry Serpico) very happy. He wants things to stay just the way they are.
The DVD set also includes quite a few special features as an added bonus. Each one adds a little bit more to the series. Personally, I always like deleted scenes just because you get to see extra things that didn't necessarily need to be left in there, but are still very interesting. The Tribe is a behind-the-scenes look at filming the scenes of the five main characters when they are interacting. They're obviously a very close group both on and off camera! My favorite though is Army Wives Gives Back. These actually aren't new scenes. They were shown during the episodes on TV. Basically, the tribe gets to go visit real military families and change their lives. It's just really touching to watch.
Season One of Army Wives captivated my sister and I so much that we now record and watch it every week that it is on. Season Two continues the drama beautifully! I highly recommend that you go pick up Army Wives: The Complete Second Season today, just in time to start the new season.
