Vignettes include such situations as a snake handler being bitten by a deadly Monacled Cobra and it's a race against time to save his life. In another story, some fisherman have the unfortunate luck to reel in a spinner shark, but then decide to play around a bit with it, and get chomped in the process. There are some heart-wrenching ones like a mother black bear who climbs an electric pole in a fearful search for her missing cub, then gets shocked. Although disturbing to watch, parents can rest assured that each event has a (mostly) happy ending and all of the animals that experience horrific events survive.
Probably one of the saddest scenes was a baby polar bear whose foot got caught in a hunter's trap. As he screamed for his mother, who was nearby with another cub, it tore one's heart out. As she came close to try and help him, he crawled under her belly, foot in trap. It was pitiful, but human helpers were able to frighten mom off with a tank (yes, a military tank!) and rescue the baby.
While this DVD isn't for everyone, it did have some interesting and shocking moments, as well as a few feel-good ones too. For fans of Animal Planet, it might be worth a purchase. I can't see re-watching it over and over, but those who enjoy wild and crazy moments caught on tape should consider renting it.
