The first episode of JAG: The Seventh Season starts right where the finale of Season Six left everything. Mic and Mac postpone the wedding since Harm is lost at sea. There is no law case at all in the first episode. Given that Harm is still in the opening credits, you know that he is going to be found at sea and live. But what kind of shape will he be in? This first episode is my least favorite of the entire series since it marks the end of Mic as a major character. He just can't deal with the relationship between Harm and Mac, so he returns to Australia, leaving Harm and Mac to deal with their feelings for each other. There's still one road block between them though, Renee (Cindy Ambuehl). Is she going to try and hang on to Harm knowing his feelings for Mac? Even if Harm and Mac ever get the chance together, will they even take it? I mean, dating a best friend and coworker, especially working that closely together, isn't usually a good idea.
After the first episode, they do get back to the law stuff. Mac takes an assignment in the Indian Ocean to avoid talking to everyone about the wedding. She just can't explain that many more times why the wedding isn't going to be rescheduled. She stays there for a while to avoid the "talk" with Harm.
JAG also gets a new employee to help cover the lack of people they have. Commander Turner (Scott Lawrence). He knows Harm from way back in the Academy. I like Turner as an addition to the show. He's a mostly likable guy. He does seem to crusade a little bit too much at times, though. It was really funny when he took it upon himself to "help" Bud with a diet that he wasn't planning on undertaking. Lt. Loren Singer (Nanci Chambers) is still there, just as vicious as ever in her quest to become the first female JAG. I'm not sure how she thinks she'll get there by making so many enemies along the way, but she sure thinks she will. Bud (Patrick Labyorteaux) and Harriet (Karri Turner) are doing well in their personal life. I guess after all of the problems they had last season, they deserve a break. Bud does have a big problem at work, though. Admiral Chegwidden (John M. Jackson) is still the JAG. He does a wonderful job controlling and directing all of his staff, at least as much as they listen to him.
JAG continues to get better season after season. I've highly recommended the last few seasons and this one is no different. If you've never seen JAG, you are really missing out. Go get JAG: The Seventh Season today!
