Dreamcast Extension Cord
Score: 95%
Developer: Sunflex

Function:

The purpose of the Extension Cord is simple -- it lets you use your Dreamcast controllers from a distance heretofore unreachable by non-cordless means. Or, in English, 'you can sit far from your TV.' The extension cord plugs into the controller port, and then you plug your controller directly into the cord. It adds a little over six feet to your playable distance, which is a good thing -- the shortness of the DC cords drives me up the wall.

Performance:

Er, it works. I never had any problems with the games not recognizing the controller plugged into the extension cable, and the games didn't seem to glitch any more (or less) with the cord plugged in than without it. The place where my Dreamcast is has seats that are quite far away from the TV, which necessitates either having the Dreamcast sitting on a chair so that it's close enough or this extension cord. Since having the DC on a chair means taut wires that people can trip over, the extension cord is a much better choice. Yes, the cord does get in the way sometimes, but that's a truly minor issue. It does what it's supposed to do, and it does it well.

Features:
  • Over six feet of cord
  • No external power-supply needed to boost the signal
  • Matches your standard DC peripherals

Drawbacks & Problems::

Besides the fact that this encourages me to be even more of a couch potato, there are really no drawbacks with the cable. The DC seemed to have no problems with the longer cord, and I didn't have any button-read issues with the games either. It does add a little more 'trip factor' in your games, though, so those of you who have kids running around the house often should be careful when using this.

It's an extension cord. For the Dreamcast. And it works. What more can I say?
