Function:If two is a couple, and three is a crowd - what is four? While some may call it just plain too many, I would prefer to think of it as one hell of a Mario Brothers Advance game. How did I come up with that? Easy, pick up a Power Link Plus, grab some friends with GBAs and find out for yourself. |
| Performance:Simply put, the Power Link Plus is a four way link cable for the GBA, and while it does have a few minor problems, it's not that bad of a cable. The connections fit tightly into the GBA and have easy to read labels so you know exactly which connection goes to which player, something some cords haven't done as well. I really liked that the cable came with instructions. Okay, yeah sounds a little lame - instructions for how to plug something in, but sometimes things aren't as easy as they seem. For example, do you plug the cable in before or after the power is turned on? To some, it may be a no brainier, but to others, it's a very handy thing and I commend Nyko for including them. As far as gaming went, the only problem I had was some minor lag time in some games. But I've had this problem with other cables so it's not a major issue, and points more toward the problem being with the game than the cable. |

Drawbacks & Problems::As I said before, the Power Link Plus is a good cable, but it does have a few minor drawbacks that keep it from being the cable to have. As you can imagine, a four player cable is going to have a lot of -well, cable. When you're playing it's not much of a problem; but when traveling, it can be a major problem. You can easily fix this with a rubber band, but it would have been nice to have a velcro wrap-around strip (such as the one that comes with MadCatz cables) to keep things neat. I also would have liked the cables to be a little longer. From my best estimation, the entire cable is about 5 feet long, giving each play a little under 2 feet of 'elbow room'. This gets to be a problem because everyone has to be very close when playing, which can get a little uncomfortable after awhile. This can also become a problem if you have a friend who is one of those 'wild gamers' (you know, the would who has to make his hands jump whenever his character jumps), the lack of slack could accidentally pull out a cord. |
