Attacks:

Blast Zone, being a Swap Force Skylander, can be grown along two paths: his top and his bottom. Most of his upgrades on the top half are active, while the ones on the bottom half are more passive. So what's his forte? Well, destruction, of course. His default attacks consist mainly of hurling bombs everywhere and spitting a continuous stream of flame. Bombs are generally more powerful, while flame breath acts as a decent defense mechanism; Blast Zone is rooted in place when using this ability, but he can trace a circle of death around himself. Upgrading this ability even further allows him to detonate when a circle of flame breath is completed. Bombs and flame breath can even be used in tandem; hurling a bomb through the wall of flame breath you've created powers up the bomb. And finally, once you nab that Soul Gem, you'll be able to throw two bombs at once.

Blast Zone's bottom half is more geared towards mobility and defense. For starters, you can dash around using his rocket boots, and upgrading it can come with benefits such as contact damage during dashing and fireballs being produced at the end of each dash. The Soul Gem upgrade allows Blast Zone to leave Back to the Future-style fire trails wherever he dashes, leaving burning traps for his enemies.

Comments:

Blast Zone is lots of fun to use, regardless of which half you're using at any given time. Admittedly, his style clashes with that of the other Swap Force Skylanders I own, but really, that's just part of the fun.

This Skylander's stout personality clashes deliciously with his pyromania, and that "whoosh" that accompanies each dash makes locomotion more fun than it usually is. Like most of the others, Blast Zone's schtick might feel a bit samey before too long, but there's no denying that he's good at what he does.
